You can download Office 2007-2013 Compatibility Pack for Office 2000, XP, and 2003 that will enable you to view docx, pptx, and xlsx files. Therefore, you can still use Office 2000 for work, papers, etc. if you wanted to.

Install Office 2000.

Update it.

Install compatibility.
